A large, investor-owned hospital chain is suing a federal agency, arguing workplace health officials don’t have authority to inspect its hospital under a lapsed rule that governed Covid-19 safety protocols. 

Tenet Healthcare Corp., a Dallas-based company with 60 hospitals and more than $19 billion in revenue, is seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent an Occupational Health and Safety inspector from entering one of its El Paso hospitals. The lawsuit says a rule that once gave OSHA additional authority to inspect Covid-19 safety protocols in hospitals is no longer enforceable.
