WASHINGTON — Sen. Joe Manchin, a moderate Democrat who will determine how much domestic policy his party will accomplish for the rest of the year, said Tuesday that Democrats’ health care policy priorities are a no-go without tax reform.
“If you don’t fix the tax code, you don’t do anything. You can’t continue to throw caution to the wind, it’s not responsible. People think [you’ve] got to do something. No,” Manchin said when asked about the prospects for health care policy reform at a meeting of the American Hospital Association.
