In an ambitious move to widen access to its medical products, Pfizer plans to provide nearly two dozen patent-protected medicines and vaccines, which are already available in the U.S. or European Union, at not-for-profit prices to 45 poor countries, STAT writes. The 23 medicines and vaccines to be made available are used to treat infectious diseases, different cancers, and rare and inflammatory diseases. And as the company launches new products, these will also be included in the program on a not-for-profit basis, which means the countries would be able to purchase the drugs and vaccines at substantially lower prices than elsewhere.
