
New guidance from the Infectious Diseases Society of America provides information on how to manage drug interactions between Paxlovid — an oral antiviral authorized for COVID-19 — and commonly prescribed medications.
Among the top 100 most prescribed drugs, the IDSA said only two have interactions so severe that Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir; Pfizer) should be avoided altogether: rivaroxaban and salmeterol. It was the top story in infectious disease last week.
