SAN FRANCISCO — Results showed calling patients the day after minor in-office hand surgery may help guide the recovery process and reorient unhelpful catastrophic thoughts, especially among patients with concerns about recovery.
“The results of this study make me encourage you all to consider setting up someone on your staff or someone on your team to call patients the day after [surgery], see how they are doing and if they are having concerns, maybe speak to the surgeon directly. I think it goes a long way to facilitate in their recovery,” David C. Ring, MD, hand and
